Mumbai: LeT’s suspected operative, Zabihuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal, was on Monday sent to judicial custody in the 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case. He is likely to be taken into custody for his alleged involvement in the 2010 Nashik police academy attack conspiracy case on Tuesday.

Jundal, who was earlier in the custody of the Mumbai crime branch for his role in the 26/11 attack case, was later handed over to the Maharashtra ATS in connection with the arms haul case. He was produced before a court
which sent him to judicial custody.

Sources said the ATS has two cases registered against Jundal. First the Pune German Bakery bomb blast case and the second is the Nashik police academy attack conspiracy case. In the German Bakery case, the police have arrested Mirza Himayat Baig and in the Nashik case, an LeT operative Farid Baba Bilal Shaikh, was arrested in 2010. During interrogation, Shaikh told police that he was planning to attack the Nashik police academy like the Lahore police school was attacked three years ago.
