‘Take help from Greek banks to solve case’

COP A/C HACKING

Mumbai: The city police have instructed Axis Bank to take help from banks in Greece from where the accused withdrew cash from policemen’s accounts. Cyber criminals hacked into 37 accounts, 14 belonging to city cops, and withdrew Rs 15.48 lakh between June 10 and 13.

Police sources said the accused who installed the skimmers in the ATMs are Indian.
“The investigating team has sought details of all ATM centres from where the policemen have withdrawn in the past,” a senior police officer said.

The police will narrow down if the same person/people used the ATM immediately after the cops used it. Footage from CCTV cameras between April 4 and 29, when the skimmers were installed in the city’s ATMs, will also be examined.

It is also learnt that the police have instructed Axis Bank to ask the Greek banks to provide CCTV footage of all ATMs from where the money was withdrawn. — Mateen Hafeez
