Mumbai: Officers from the state anti-terrorism squad (ATS) recovered arms, ammunition and cash from a vehicle during nakabandi in Dadar recently.
Two handguns, a revolver, two choppers, eight cellphones and Rs 6.5 lakh in cash were recovered. The car’s occupants—Iliyas Khan (33), Razi Shaikh (26) and Shafique Shah (30)—have been arrested. The three, who hail from Madhya Pradesh, were produced before the court and remanded in police custody till July 15.
“They were in touch with Naeemuddin Shaikh
and Zubair Khan in Mumbai. Naeemuddin and Zubair were arrested by the
city crime branch in 1998 for possession of seven AK-47 rifles, 45
grenades, detonators and dynamite. They are being interrogated and we
don’t want to divulge anything at this juncture,” said an ATS officer.
