Woman falls to death from 14th floor of SoBo building

Mumbai: A 38-year-old woman reportedly jumped to death from her 14th floor flat in Darya Mahal at Nepean Sea Road on Friday morning.

    The police have registered a
case of accidental death but said they were probing if it was a suicide.     The deceased, Priya Punjabi, was depressed and had been undergoing psychiatric treatment, said the Marine Drive police. Priya is survived by her businessman husband and two daughters, aged 15 and 12. The incident took place around 4.45am on Friday. Her body was spotted by a car washer. Priya’s husband, Vinay, informed the police.
The police have recorded his
statement as well as that of his domestic help Chetna Rathor. None of the residents of the 24-storey building saw her jump, said the police.
The family told the officers that Priya had attempted suicide in February 2012 too, but her maid had stopped her.
