Mumbai: The economic offences wing on Tuesday questioned FTIL owner Jignesh Shah and half a dozen directors of NSEL and other companies. On Monday, 14 officebearers of various companies named in a criminal case were questioned.
“We questioned Shah, Joseph Messy and other directors of various companies on regulatory issues and the role of directors overseeing the working of exchange,” said Rajvardhan Sinha, additional commissioner of police, EOW. The questioning lasted threeand-a-half hours. Sinha hinted that they will again be summoned for questioning.
On September 30, EOW had registered an FIR against Financial Technologies (India), which owns NSEL, its office-bearers and two dozen private firms on charges of Rs 5,600-crore fraud. The police have frozen 66 bank accounts of several persons, companies and NSEL, having more than Rs 21 crore.
