Mumbai: The economic offences wing (EOW) arrested Surendra Gupta, MD of Dunar Food, for his alleged role in the Rs 5,500 crore NSEL cheating case. Gupta is the sixth person to be arrested in NSEL case.
Rajvardhan Sinha, additional commissioner of police, EOW, said Gupta’s company took Rs 571 crore loan from NSEL for buying commodities but invested in the money in real estate and transferred some money abroad. “Gupta’s wife is a director in another firm, P D Agro Processing, and some money was transferred from Dunar to P D Agro,” said Vasant Dhobale, another EOWofficial.
