Drama queen climbs hoarding in Byculla, stops traffic for hours

A woman who habitual ly threatens suicide after climbing poles or perching atop hoardings to draw attention to her unfair share of misfortune was at it again on Wednesday . Vile Parle resident Sapna Pareira (48) climbed the iron supports of a commercial hoarding next to the railway tracks in Byculla in the morning, threatening to jump from a height of 70 feet.

The high-voltage drama--that had hundreds of onlookers gathering, causing a traffic jam--went on for four hours till Pareira was forcibly brought down by the fire brigade at 3pm. A turntable ladder had to be used for the purpose.

Pareira had gone to the police commissioner's office on Monday with a complaint, but was not allowed into the main building. She abused the cops there and left.

Her daughter Sonu (18), who studies in a boarding school in Panchgani, and is in Mumbai for vacation, said, “Our neighbours are harassing us. They want to kill us and usurp our room. My moth er also went to the Juhu police station, but the officers there abused and threatened her. She was left with no option. Nobody is there to listen to us.“
