Actor Preity Zinta, who had lodged a complaint against former boyfriend, industrialist Ness Wadia, arrived from the United States on Sunday and is not expected to give her statement to the Marine Drive police on Monday.

Sources familiar with the case said that she will not visit the police station on Monday . The police are keen to record her statement soon and are likely to do it a day later. But they have not revealed where they will record her statement.

Under law, the police can record a female complainant's statement at her residence. A senior police officer said that Zinta would inform them when it can be recorded. A senior IPS officer said they could arrest Wadia if Zinta's statement is corroborated with that of witnesses, and if they collect enough evidence.

In a Facebook post on Sunday night, she said, “Exhausted but happy to finally be back home in Mumbai. I'd like to apologize to the media but it will not be possible for me to make any comments or statements as this investigation is still on. Pls co operate & PLEASE don't call my staff or friends non-stop as they have requested me to make this appeal to you all on their behalf.“
Additional commissioner of police (south region) Krishna Prakash said they did not record her statement on Sunday . Zinta went to the US soon after filing the complaint on June 13.
