Wall collapse kills Malegaon blasts accused

Mumbai: Shabbir Maseeullah (39), who was arrested for his alleged role in the 2006 Malegaon blasts, died on Monday evening. He was busy in the construction work of his house in Malegaon when a wall collapsed on him. A bleeding Maseeullah was rushed to Dhule civil hospital but was pronounced dead.

Maseeullah's 12-year-old son, Maaz, was also injured in the accident. He is said to be stable.
Maseullah is survived by his wife and three children.He was released from the Arthur Road jail in November 2011 after nearly five-and-ahalf years. “I just received a call informing about his sudden death,“ said advocate Irfana
Hamdani, who represented Maseeullah in the case.

Maseeullah was on bail along with six others and would come to Mumbai to attend the court hearings.
Maseeullah was first arrested in August 2006 by the Mumbai crime branch under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and was later booked in the serial bombings that killed 38. Maseeullah and the others had filed discharge plea, which is pending.
