& Mateen Hafeez I TNN Mumbai: The Bandra-Kurla Complex cops are awaiting the report by Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) before taking further action against the four businessmen alleged to have raped a 42-year-old woman on Thursday night. Investigators said it would take a week or two to get the FSL report which would clear the picture.
Picking holes in the victim’s story, investigators said they found some discrepancies in the allegation because two of the four accused said they were not in the city.
Deputy commissioner of police (zone VIII) Brijesh Singh told TOI on Saturday the FSL report would clear the air. “We are getting details about the mode of transport that the two suspects are claiming to have used to travel,’’ he said.
A doctor from Nagpada Police Hospital told police officials there were no injury marks in victim’s private parts. This, officials said, did not necessarily prove that there was no rape, but added that the forensic report had become more important in proving the rape.
The victim said she was raped in the rear seat of a parked Tavera by the four businessmen at an isolated spot behind the Asian Heart Hospital at BKC. The victim runs a small catering business and supplies tiffin to clients, including two of the accused. “The four suspects are from Andheri and Malad. The victim is a divorcee and stays with her teenaged son in Malad,’’ a BKC police officer said.
According to the victim, she received a call from one of the suspects on Thursday, asking her to meet him at a place near the Asian Heart Hospital around 8.15 pm. She saw him and three others in the vehicle. “Two of them came out of the vehicle, but the other two repeatedly raped me,’’ she said.
The victim stated that the men threatened her and dumped her at an isolated spot. Around 11 pm, she managed to walk to the BKC police station and lodged a complaint.
