Mumbai: A Maharashtra antiterrorism squad (ATS) team has returned from Rajasthan after questioning the four suspects arrested for the Ajmer shrine blast. The ATS visited Rajasthan to ascertain if the arrested had any links with the 2008 Malegaon blast. While the ATS team termed the visit as “fruitful,’’ a decision on whether the Ajmer blast accused would be brought to Mumbai is yet to be taken. The Rajasthan ATS on April 28 arrested a Rashtriya Swaymsevak Sangh (RSS) member, Devendra Gupta, for his alleged role in the Ajmer blast case. Three others were arrested by the Rajasthan police. Soon after, the Maharashtra police learned that Gupta knew Malegaon blast accused, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur. “Our team questioned the suspects in Rajasthan and we have got the report. A decision on whether to bring the suspect to Maharshtra or not is yet to be taken,’’ said an officer.
A source said the ATS team questioned Gupta and his associates about their relationship with Thakur and how many times they spoke to each other. The state ATS has not made any arrests since November 2008. It has now emerged that slain RSS member Sunil Joshi, who is also said to be Thakur’s boyfriend, had introduced Gupta to her.
