Mumbai: The probe into the case of 41-year-old Sayyed Musaddique Qadri, who had faked his death, has revealed that he had stayed in Malegaon between 2004 and 2006. He allegedly tried to alter his face with the help of plastic surgery. However, the surgery could not be performed due to health problems, said investigators.
Qadri was arrested on October 6 by the antiterrorism squad for killing a man in an attempt to fake his death in 2003. He was produced before additional chief metropolitan magistrate R K Malabade at Mazgaon court on Saturday and remanded in police custody till October 19.
“In Malegaon, he stayed with a doctor identified as Ansari, who was arrested in an antiques smuggling case,” said an ATS officer. Investigators are yet to identify the man allegedly killed by Qadri. On August 15, 2003, his Mira Road flat caught fire. The police found the burnt body of a man who had been beheaded. At that time, Qadri’s wife identified the body as her husband’s. He was charge-sheeted for seven bomb blasts in Mumbai, but acquitted in all the cases.
