‘Provide Swami’s confession’

Mateen Hafeez TNN

Mumbai: A MCOCA court has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to furnish a certified copy of Mecca Masjid blast suspect Swami Aseemanand’s confession on February 9.

The court was hearing the bail applications of the nine Malegaon blasts accused. The defence lawyer in the case told the court that they had approached a Delhi court seeking a copy of Aseemanand’s confession.

However, the court had rejected their application stating that the document could only be given to the investigating officer or agency. In their petition the three Malegaon blasts suspects said that Aseemanand had allegedly admitted that the serial blasts were carried out by a right-wing group. They sought bail on these grounds.
