Suspects in 26/11 terror attack case taken to UP

Mumbai: A police team on Tuesday escorted 26/11 terror attack suspects, Faheem Ansari and Sabahuddin Ahmed, to Uttar Pradesh, in connection with the attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Rampur.

The Bombay high court last month acquitted Ansari and Ahmed of all charges in the terror attacks case. The Mumbai crime branch, probing the case, had said that the two had provided logistic support. Sources said that the police will take them to Rai Bareilly jail and produce them in a Rampur court.

Terrorists had opened fire on the CRPF camp on January 1, 2008, killing three personnel. Ansari, who used to work for a printing press in Dubai in 2006, went missing in 2007. He was later arrested in 2008. Ansari had allegedly arranged for the weapons for the attack.


The police said that the had done a recce of the Gateway of India, state police headquarters, police commissioner’s office, the Bombay Stock Exchange and other landmarks.
