Mumbai: The MRA Marg police recently registered a case against a former MLA of the Shiv Sena for allegedly beating up a quick response team commando and a taxi driver at Hutatma Chowk in south Mumbai. The MLA is yet to be arrested.
Krishna Prakash, Addl CP (south region), said, “The on-duty QRT commando, P Dhare, was posted near Hutatma Chowk. He saw some people beating up a taxi driver with sticks. While no one came to the cabbie’s rescue, the commando intervened. The accused asaulted the commando despite knowing he was a policeman on duty.”
Prakash
added that the commando was scared of losing his job as he had heard
one of the men saying he was an ex-MLA. “After learning of the incident,
we called the commando who told us what happened. He said he didn’t
want to lodge a complaint as he was scared of any action against him,”
said Prakash.
